H.C.O.A.W. w/ Yohji Yamamoto Spring 2012 and Things That Aren't Boring

I get tired of fashion sometimes. I mean, I get tired of boring fashion. Creative-less, trends-that-wont-die-focused fashion. Fashion that has obvious boundaries, a lack of fun; a limit. Fashion that is forced. I do it too. I force it, and I wear leggings five days in a row, and my creative juices suffer tremendously, and then I wonder why fashion is boring on one end and too much to handle on the other. It is a fact, actually, that people search for something that is just a little bit different - anything a bit off-the-wall - almost on a mind-boggling second-by-second basis. Different  catches our attention much quicker than anything that is more of the same. This is why I like fashion. Always needing to feed my own personal yearning for seeing/doing/experiencing something different,  fashion happens to be a creative choice than I (we) have the pleasure of making every day.

Because of this terrific diary entry I call today's blog post,  I am first going to post items from around the interwebs that rest in the corners of my soul as dreamy and creatively fulfilling, no matter what anyone says. Then we're going to install this week's Heroine Chic Once a Week, where we will learn that not all tees are created equal. Thanks for the patience:)

5 Things that Aren't Boring:

Frosted Perspex Clutch
Shirtdress in Fluro Silk
NAHM Spring 2012 Collection - and ANYTHING they do! (Follow them here on the Twitter)
Pastel Geo Tunic
Wait, that's not fashion. You're right, although it kind of is, and it's not boring. The Great Gatsby 2012 via FarFetch
 Now...
Heroine Chic Once A Week

The recipe, on repeat:

  • Lack of sleep
  • Eyeshadow in various dark forms or leftover from last night
  • An attitude
  • Clothes you want to wear
  • A runway show or two, cuz it's fun

This week's muse:
Blazer: Carmen Marc Valvo; shirt: cut-off Hanes; trousers: Tahari; belt: Levi's; sneakers: Chanel via Etsy.

The Lesson:
Although it is not boring, you may leave the purple lipstick and bleached eyebrows to Yohji; I get it. But you may not leave the jagged-edge white tee at home (it's perfectly heroin chic and super D.I.Y, after all) and it may be a good time to start the 90's controversy that is baggy black trousers with sneakers...even if they are vintage Chanel. I warn you: there will be blood backlash. 2nd warning: super comfortable days ahead.

I agree. There are lots of expensive designer pieces that are boring and unattractive. :)
