Normally I can't wrap my brain around the (current) Versace monomania, a noise I liken to cab horns on a busy street in New York if said street were made of the self-professed fashion-obsessed and cabs were mini Donatella aircraft's. Give me a chain print any day but the whole sexed-up, bon-bon-hugging, only-Gisele-can-wear-it vibe of 90's Versace and beyond has always made me run far, far away (if Gisele can wear it - hellooo, obviously we can't). There was no way someone could've slapped greenbacks into my hand to step foot into an H&M near the Versace collab last year because if there's anything I hate worse than crowds, it's someone next to me buying the same thing. Call me a snob, or call me disloyal, but Léger and Donatella can have their body-cons...
...until
today, when I'll shamelessly detract (some) of what I said there
and obligingly thank the Masteress (at least the Maya Rudolph
version of her) and bless her and her accessories designer for these:
If you think they're sexy, chalk it up to the fact that the boyfriend just looked at them, raised that eyebrow like he does and asked why they weren't boots.
Since I can't afford 'em, my only solution then is to take that trip back in time and thank Gianni for all of the below. Feel free to thank me as well:
1. Vintage Gianni Versace Zebra Print Ponyhair Boots from Delux Vintage
